Supreme Court Denies Trump Appeal

The Supreme Court has now denied an appeal from lawyers representing former President Donald Trump that sought to vacate a ruling issued by a lower appeals court relating to the FBI’s raid on the former President personal compound at Mar-A-Lago.

The 11th U.S. Circuit of Appeals had forbidden a so-called special master, appointed by a federal judge, from reviewing more than 100 classified documents as part of an examination of the more than 11,000 government records seized in the raid in order to determine which should be barred from being used in a potential criminal investigation of Trump.

Trump’s attorneys urged the Supreme Court last week to overturn that ruling.

In Thursday’s order issued by the court stated: “The application to vacate the stay entered by the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit on September 21, 2022, presented to Justice [Clarence] Thomas and by him referred to the Court is denied.”

Justice Clarence Thomas has oversight of all emergency appeals.

There were no dissents from any other justices that were noted.
